I bought a 1999 camaro 2 days ago and I don't know how to turn off hte alarm. It only came with 1 key and a remote. The thing about the alarm is that while its on you cant turn on the car. It happened to me while I was trying to turn on the car befor I bought it to, the owner played eith it for about 5 minutes and it turned on, but he dosnt know excactly how its done because that was only the second time its happened to him. It's parked in a parking lit about 20 minutes away from my house. is there like a combination I need or somethng because the owner says I have to reset the alarm.

Below are links to a few page on the installation process of adding an aftermarket alarm system, THANKS Brent. You maybe able to check these out and get some wiring details on how to either disable or bypass the stock alarm system.

Good luck!

What brand of alarm? Factory or add-on? A factory alarm should turn off when you put the key in the ignition and start the car...if it's an add-on alarm, find out what brand and call an alarm installer in your area or try The12volt.com for info.

If this alarm is a factory alarm all you do is insert the door lock key into the drivers door and turn the key to lock and unlock and that will shut off the alarm. If it is not the factory alarm I would disconnect the battery and then reconnect it to see if that would shut it off. Good Luck!

i had the same prob. the thing to do is lift the rear right panel. you know were your spare is and your alarm sensor is located next to your speaker wire diconnect the sensor and youll be good to go replace it when you have the money to . your power doors and locks will still work with your remote.
