I want a new favorite band.

All the bands I listen to right now - I only like a couple of their songs. I want to like more than a couple if they're my favorite band.

Any good bands?

To listen to bands that are overall great and not boring or repetitive, you'd have to go back in time. Here are some suggestions

PINK FLOYD
SUPERTRAMP
GENESIS
SANTANA
DEEP PURPLE
YES
LED ZEPPELIN
RUSH
AEROSMITH
GUNS N' ROSES
EMERSON LAKE AND PALMER
DREAM THEATER

now you will not have ONE but many favorite bands just like me...
have fun and good luck

If you want to get off the pop/Top 40/mainstream bandwagon, take a look at some of the bands promoted through Paste magazine (paste.com). They focus on the indie bands, the yet-to-be-discovered bands, etc.

I have found incredible gems from their magazine and website. I don't burn out because I rarely hear the bands on the radio. Their magazine is excellent because it comes with a CD sampler of 15-20 songs from the very bands they are writing about. That's putting their money where their mouth is. I don't like all the bands, but find a lot of great artists that I then go buy other songs or their whole albums. The sampler is what does it for me because I get to play the song while I read the article/review.

I have gone back to my 2004 -2006 editions of the magazine and surprised how some of the bands have garnered more mainstream attention or stay low-key and just put out great stuff.

I've always adored Bon Jovi. They're not new, but I like 99.999999% of their songs. They are the one band whose music I buy even if I haven't heard it before because I KNOW I'll like it and get my money's worth.

Second fav..........Pink Floyd. Awesome music. Not new either, but awesome just the same.

Well it depends what your personality is...
If youre like depressed go for something that would cheer you up and get you pumped like Green Day, Simple Plan, Blink 182. If you are like a sappy senstive go for the Plain White T's.
