Memory lane is in the bad side of town, on the other side of the tracks. I always have to bundle up before I go down there, cloaking myself in self assurance to avoid getting beaten up by the shades of the people who perpetually disapproved of me when I was younger. It's necessary to go down there every now and again so I can pick through the shattered remains that sit in the places where I made my biggest mistakes. It's a lot of work to pick through the ruins, but often I find some of my most valuable insights there.

most definitely. to this day i still have problems with it. i do have some good memories. i wouldn't trade them for the world. but, it also makes me sad. i miss certain moments with family and friends. i miss having the child's view of the world. other memories i would burn in the trash and never look back.
