oooooh! is that an absolute value thing? ok, you gotta treat them like 2 seperate problems for now. i suggest u cancel out the fractions to make it easier. So mult. the 1st one by 3 on both sides and the 2nd by 2. Then you just solve the equations and you should get: X is less thatn or equal to -10 OR X is greater than or equal to 2. I suggest you graph the answer on a number line just to make sense of it. then plug a number in and check it.

if its set out like this

(2x-1)/3(>=) 7 (>=) (8x-2)/2
2/3x-1/3 (less than or equal to) 7(greater than or equal to) 4x-2

if 2/3x-1/3=7
then 2/3x must equal 7.3333333
so x must equal 4.8 recurring (or less)

if 4x-2 =7
thn 4x must equal 9
so x must equa l2.25(or more)

so x must be greater than or equal to 2.25 but less than or equal to 4.8recurring

2.25(<=) x(<=) 4.8 recurring

hope this helps

As this is probably your howework, i'm making up my own inequalities, but the work is the same. Let's take (4x-2)/6 <3 and (4x-2)/6 >-3

For the first one. First get rid of the denominator. Since you divide by the denominator, to get rid of it multiply both sides by the denominator:
(4x-2)/6 *6 <3*6 so you get
4x-2 <18

Then you have to get he x term alone, so get rid of any addends since here you're subtracting, add to both sides:
4x-2+2 <18+2 so you get
4x < 20

Now get rid of any coefficients to do that, divide by the coefficient:
4x/4 <20/4 so you get
x<5
---------------------------------------------
for the second one same thing:
get rid of the denominator
(4x-2)/6 *6>-3*6
4x-2 > -18

Get rid of the addend
4x-2+2 > -18+2
4x > -16

get rid of the coefficient
4x/4>-16/4
x > -4
------------------------

******NOTE***** if your coefficient is negative, flip your sign!
