I have two ram sticks, each are 1gb/ 667. When I use one at a time.........either stick then my pc works fine, however when I use them together my system will eventually crash showing the blue screen after a while. I have checked my motherboard manual and it is supportive of the ram, however could it be that the motherboard cannot handle this much ram because it states that it will support 2gb ram and when I check the ram I am using then 2047mb is indicated. Both sticks have been used independently and work fine. What is the problem?

Also where does the extra 47mb ram come from to make it 2047mb? Both sticks are Corsair and match. My motherboard is Asrock 4 dualcore vsta.

Plug them both in and do a memory test (http://www.memtest86.com) and see if there's an underlying problem with one of the sticks of memory.

Also 1024MB to an operating system = 1GB so, 2048MB of ram = 2GB .

What motherboard do you have and what's the RAM manufacturer and model?

The problem is in fact one of the sticks of ram or both have a problem.
This is not unusual when buying cheap or incompatible Ram.
Some machines require you to purchase matched pairs of Ram to work properly.
In the past many users not being aware, see a real deal on RAM and purchase it and install it, only to find out later that the ram they purchased from a cut rate or bargin basement firm is either not the correct ram or is incompatible.
Ram is one area that you absolutly DO NOT WANT TO SKIMP. I suggest you have a look here and let them diagnose your problem. They have always been an industry leader when it comes to RAM.
