if they didn't someone would sue them for neglect.
the British Government issued a pamphlet some years ago with useful advice (called Protect & Survive)
paint your windows white....make a barricade from the doors in your house lol

It's been around for a while. It should simply tell you that in the event of a nuclear war, you'll get a "404 error. Your butt not found."
