Federal heating aid is down as heating oil prises rise. According to the US Dept of Health & Human Services, the Bush Administration granted almost 30% LESS assistance in 2007 than the previous year, and projects a 44% cut for 2008 in heating oil assistance for the poor, elderly and disabled.

Does this feel fair to you?

No, it's not fair, it's utterly wrong and dispicable.

But it means the rich get tax breaks, so that makes it ok.

Life isn't fair. The government should not have anything to do with "heating aid." Is there anything the government isn't responsible for now days? At what point did we become completely incapable of dealing with our own basic needs? Private charities can address this issue.
