Have the codes checked, you may simply need a tune up, you can determine this by which code is stored in the computers memory, anytime the check engine comes on it will store numeric trouble codes in the computer so diagnostics can be performed. Have them checked, a flashing engine light usually means a missfire or other catalyst damaging malfunction is happening.

THe Jag is an expensive car to nickel and dime trying to find a problem. If the Engine light is on, have it diagnosed, you will save yourself a LOT of time and aggravation....

Give it a service and tune up, might be your airfolw meter.
