Checking your cervix everyday is a great idea for when you first start checking it. Once you know how your cervix feels at different times in your cycle you don't have to do it but every other day or so and when you think you are fertile. When you are on your period, your cervix isn't of much concern unless you are one who ovulates early on in your cycle. If not, don't even worry about it.

As much as people talk about checking their cervix on here and all over the web and on charting sites... people still don't get it... There is nothing wrong with checking your cervix!

Okay, to answer your question I have had my cervix to be a bit high during menses, it isn't anything to be concerned about unless you have a short cycle. Some women actually ovulate on their periods sometimes (rare, but you ever hear of a woman who got pregnant while on here period? She either ovulated near the end of her period or shortly there after from having sex on her period and the sperm still being in there... it is rare, the sperm will usually come out with the blood...)

Also, your cervix may slightly change postition several times in a day, check at the same time every day. Since it is your first day of menstruation, don't worry about it too much. I don't think it means anything right now. Our bodies are confusing sometimes, I know.

I'm a little late answering this post, but I too check my cervix and during my period it is higher most of the time ,more open, and soft. I just got off of my period today, and it's now harder and closed. Hope this helps!

The cervix being high and soft means you are very fertile at that stage - lower means less fertile. It's caused by the level of progesterone.

Sorry, I'm a male - but I know what I'm talking about!

And why do people bother replying here if they can't say anything useful or constructive!

My cervix is high and soft when AF visits...I had the same question.... I've been on birth control (Ortho tri-cyclen) for the past 6 years so figure it has something to do with that...good luck!

This is the second time this week i have heard of the whole *cervix is high) issue on here. What is up with that? Simply put, don't worry about it! You are on your period, everything is normal, it is fine. Let your OBGYN or what ever doctor you use for your annual exam determine if your cervix is normal, sounds like everything is fine.

And your checking your cervix for WHAT reason ? Is this some new health concern that I haven't heard about yet?
It's normal during your period. If you have to check it that much, you need to see a doctor.
