Like 50 years ago Marrage was sacred and a married person was respected, Now it seems like Marrage and committment mean nothing, Married and committed people seem to go around acting like their single.

Its just not right.

All this started with the birth control pill. Suddenly women could have sex without the fear of pregnancy. That allowed for extramarital experiences, and leads to divorce. The other circumstance is, women are working outside the home, and are more financially independent. Now she can leave if she wants. The final part is the bussiness of living together. Why would a guy stick around when he can just walk away. Marriage makes more sense. we were married for 54 years.

A lot of better-then things not just seem, but ARE LESS thought respectful or sacred these days, since soo many people have adopted a "I don't dive a d@mn kind of attitude" to just about everything. These times are full of selfishness, disinterest and nihilism! It is a rare thing to find a kind person, a genuinely kind person anymore as our parents and grandparents tell existed.
I was in the cashier's line the other day when this middle age, heavy as well, dropped the contents of her change purse all out. The coins rolled all over the floor - I saw tat the two men closely behind her just stared at her and at the coins, but did not make a move . . So I said, 'For God's sake you two, are you horses or better still jackasses, because you are asleep on your feet! Then I bent down and picked very quickly the coins from where they had landed. When I had finally gotten them all, the lady thanked me, and asked; 'What's the matter to most people, so I said; 'Haven't you heard, lobotomies have become popular again, and if one volunteers, they are given for free, with a gift jar of scar disappearing cream!' The 2 guys just stood as if blanked out, blinking over dead eyes as this poor lady thanked me!
I'll tell you this much, people as they once may have been, are truly going through a creepy transformation into natural zombies - no zombie making powder needed!

I know,it seems like people become committed for the sake of it knowing that they can divorce later of it doesn't work out, relationships seem to have become less 'important' for instance look at the amount of people on chats shows who have had affairs with their husbands son, wife's mother,or even husbands sister.

It is sad. Marriage & Commitment have flown the coup. And respect for one another doesn't seem to be there either.
Now days, it's more lust than love and people change partners, like they change their underwear.

as i observed, the existence of cellphones, internet, etc, made them so. Committed people, as you said, go acting like they are single. When each of them on his own way, will be very busy answering messages from textmates or contacts, until they are hook on it and even fall in love(?) with their contacts. - one reason of broken marriage.

Less committed, less responsible! Everything is always someone elses fault, no one takes responsibility for their actions!
