Pass The Butter Please.

THIS IS INTERESTING .......

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys. When it killed the turkeys, the people who had funded all the research wanted to be paid back so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back. It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavorings.

DO YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter?

Read on to the end...it gets very interesting!

Both have the same number of calories.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams compared to 5 grams.

Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.

Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few only because they are added!

Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of other foods.

Butter has been around for centuries whereas margarine has been around for less than 100 years.

And now, for Margarine...

Very high in trans fatty acids.

Triple risk of coronary heart disease.

Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)

Increases the risk of cancers up to five fold.

Lowers quality of breast milk.

Decreases immune response.

Decreases insulin response.

And here's the most disturbing fact....

HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine is only ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC..

This fact alone is enough for me to avoid margarine for the rest of my life, and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).

You can try this yourself:

Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or a shaded area. Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things:

* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something).

* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weensy microorganisms will not a find a home to grow in. Why? Because it is one molecule away from being plastic, remember? Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Share This With Your Friends..... (If you want to "butter them up")!

Chinese Proverb:

"When someone shares something of value with you, and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others.

So be kind and share this with everyone you

Cheryl: Thank you so much for sharing this info...I have
been passing this along so much that people tire of hearing me.
The one thing I would add is
to tell people what hydrogenation is.
The mfgr takes this vile oil
which is the cheapest they
can find, probably GMO soy
oil from our American farmers in Brazil...and shoots it with
hydrogen gas, which solidifies
it. They then add some taste
and sell it as a heart- healthy
butter spread. If anybody
goes to hell for lieing, they
will surely be there. The cost
of that package is pennies,
plus the transport, and how
much do you pay nowadays.
I won't put that greasy brew
into my gut.

For that very reason I have come to using "I can't believe it's ot butter" as it only has 1g Sat. fat. and 0 g of Trans. fat.
I do use butter for baking. but since it is just me, I do not do much of that anymore either. People have got to be more aware of Labels when they go grocery shopping. Take the time to read them, and then you will know what products are good and bad for you. Then you will be well informed and know what products you should avoid. Like many of the frozen products that are high in Sodium, Sat. fats and Trans fats. No wonder we have become a society, that is leaning towards higher obesity. Processed foods can kill you. I'm not saying that you have to eat all natural foods and I don't even begin to go there. They are usually more expensive anyway. Just watch what you eat.

When I was growing up, we used that nasty white brick, added the little color packet and mashed the whole thing together. YUK!!

Since I became an adult, I use butter only. Margarine tastes like vegetable oil...and has all those additives. It's awful.

At least butter is a natural product.... I buy it when it's on sale (and it frequently is) and freeze it. It freezes beautifully. I use it for ALL baking and candy making.

When I have toast, I want that butter on it, not some nasty man-made chemical ridden product.

Yes, I've heard these things for several years.
We used to go to my cousin's house as a kid and they sent home butter with us. My daughter uses butter, but I've never liked it. I use olive oil or "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter-Light"-it only has 1g of saturated fat and 0g trans fat. However, I add very little to foods. I try to eat everything in moderation.

Hi Cheryl: I had started on Adkins diet and have since used butter. I am aware of the trans fats and artery clogging margarine. I also use olive oil. I also don't buy microwave popcorn because of the trans fats in it.

I stopped eating butter in 1969 because it made me ill. I thought I had an ulcer. After experimenting with several brands I now use Becel which is non-hydrogenated and is as tasty as butter. I have tried using butter again but it still makes me sick.

So why pay more for butter? Some people prefer the taste. Milk fat vs. Vegetable oils and stuff.

what's amazing to me is that the research has been around for years, but people are still eating this crap. and no, it's not true that any amount of animal product is bad for you. it's just that people eat Wy too much of it, and it's not high quality. modest amounts of high quality organic butter, eggs, milk and meat are beneficial to your health.

I purchase butter. My girls prefer margarine. I've tried to tell them all these findings you have quoted. Hope they eventually listen.
