I just got a microsoft USB wireless keyboard and mouse and everything works fine but when i restart my PC it will not load up windows and displays the message no keyboard found. but if i install the old ps2 keyboard it will reconize it and starts up fine. why is it that when its up and running it reconizes the usb keyboard but not when it is in the process of restarting ?

You need to go to your CMOS or BIOS setup (At PC startup) and check for startup options. In particular an option which reads - Stall on all errors except keyboard. Different wording on different BIOS routines, but his should give you the idea. It may also help to set the option for Non plug n Play OS.

Use PS2 keyb,
power on, go into BIOS
U need to enable "USB LEGACY DEVICES" or possibly disable the "STOP ON KEYB ERROR"

If the system i from last few years, there should be an option to use USB Keyb/mouse . . .

Check motherboard manual for specifics
