Most dialers come in the form of an advanced rootkit that loads at start up. Sophos is the rootkit detection program I use. You might try that and/or avast anti-virus home edition (free), it's pretty good at finding and removing trojans and rootkits

If you're on broadband that won't be an issue unless you have a modem installed and connected to the phone line. That said, Spybot Search & Destroy has an excellent list of rogue dialers in its list of threats & malware and does a good job of removing them. if you are on broadband, then a dialler, will not do you any harm, as long as you do not connect a phone line directly to your PC or laptop.

If you're on broadband then your phone modem (not your broadband modem) probably won't be connected so what's it dialling through?
