A mistake is when you make a wrong move on the road in your car without thinking or with something else on your mind that results in an accident. However, cheating on your spouse, as many would have us to believe, is not a mistake, but rather a transgression. As a matter of fact, anytime you do something you know is wrong even before you do it should never be called a mistake simply because it isn't. A mistake, in my opinion, is an error in judgment, not an intentional wrongdoing of any sort...

You are right in as far as transgression goes. However I believe saying a mistake is easier for the person who did the wrong to admit. I made a mistake in judgment is easier to forgive than to say the truth of '"Ya, I did have sex with this girl and probably would still be doing it but you caught me"

Agreed. Just listen to some of the famous people who have claimed it. Michael Vick, Dog Chapman, Pacman jones, Michael Richards, Kobe Bryant etc. To me all are ashamed for being caught. Not a mistake at all.
