I wear a poppy on Remembrance Day to honour Canadian soliders who have served and died for my country.
I've place it on my left lapel of my jacket.
Is there an etiquiette for wearing a poppy for men? Is there a proper way to wear it?

A great question for today - which is Remembrance Day here in Canada. In fact, I will be leaving in a couple of hours for the ceremony at the cenotaph.

Wear your poppy on the left side; it can be worn on your lapel or in the breast of your jacket or shirt. A poppy should never be used as a fashion accessory, like on a belt, or a pant leg or a hat. It should not be poked into the wall and used as an ornament. A couple of other important things about the poppy is that it is fine to wear one leading up to Remembrance Day but on the 12th of November it should be removed and put away until next year.

Thanks for your respect. It has always been an important day for me and many other Canadians. This past summer my son and I visited several war memorials and cemeteries in Holland and France - Vimy among them. It was truly one of the most moving places to which I have travelled. I am a teacher in a middle school and I try my best to have my students get the information about our country's sacrifices and contributions.

I am English and I wear one to honour Canadian soldiers who died for my country.
Left lapel is traditionally closer side to the heart, so is correct.

Left lapel is fine.

A Kipling epitaph written for Canadian troops:

"From little towns in a far land we came,
To save our honour and a world aflame.
By little towns in a far land we sleep;
And trust that world we won for you to keep. "
