Civil engineering often involves earth movement which involves property boundaries and land surveys. Mistakes can result in civil lawsuits. Civil engineers also design and build enormous bridges, so long that the curvature of the earth cannot be ignored. A bridge may have thousands of members and careful calculations must prove that no member will be over-stressed regardless of traffic and expansion of the bridge in hot weather. Civil engineers must design tall buildings to withstand earthquakes. Civil engineers don't have to be good at math, they have to be excellent.
