Can't be sure of the monarchical succession, but the death toll was nowhere near "hundreds of thousands."

While the exact number will probably never be known, various historians have placed the number of people killed during the Spanish Inquisition at 800 to 5000. Many more than should have died, but far less than commonly believed.


Edit: A thumbs down for a sourced answer? I guess that just goes to show that people would rather believe the myth than the truth.

It was not the Spanish royal family that was doing the killing. It was the Roman Catholic church. Led by one singular bloodthirsty bishop.

No. Estimates place the total death toll of the Inquisition somewhere between 4,000 and 5,000.
