I mailed the speeding ticket for the hearing. But I'll be out of the country until Jan/08. How/What should I do if the court date is during the time i'm out of the country?

Please help!

With your permission, you can have someone go on the court date, and request a continuance. It's not really correct, but under the circumstances, I'm sure the Judge will understand. Type a letter, and have the person present it to the Judge.

You can request a continuance or postponement. You need to go to the courthouse to do this. get the approval in writing so it can not be "forgotten" and you end up with a bench warrant.

Request for the postponement of the hearing by citing that you have important business dealing abroad or for other purposes such as visiting old relatives.
