Folks, this is just Leanne yet again. She fakes cancers and describes gruesome symptoms just because that's how she gets her kicks. She has done this several times before.

I'm not sure you what you want to know. I have not had bowel cancer but I used to work as a RN. Also, my x-wife's father, mother, and oldest brother; all had colon cancer.

I am not an expert but as far as I know, when you get a colonoscopy, the doctor looks through a scope to see if he can find any polyps in your large intestine (colon, or bowel). The polyps can and often do, become cancerous.

If the doctor sees any polyps he cuts them out right away, so that they don't turn into cancer. Obviously, if the colon is not completely free of stool (poop), the polyp can be behind some and not be seen. I don't know all of the situations that could make it hard for a doctor to see a polyp.

I've heard that it takes 5 years for a polyp to turn into cancer and that that is why it is recommended that people over a certain age have a colonoscopy every 5 years. If a person has a history of colon cancer in the family, they should have colonoscopies more frequently than every 5 years.

I'm extremely sorry that you were diagnosed with colon cancer. If you are asking this question to find out whether your doctor made a mistake that amounts to malpractice, I have no idea. If that is your question, you could probably find out from a lawyer who specializes in medical malpractice cases.

How bad and where in your colon is the cancer? Has it spread or do the doctors think that they can get all of the cancer with surgery? Will you need to get a temporary or permanent colostomy? I only ask these questions just to say that I hope the cancer has not spread and that you will not need chemotherapy and won't need a colostomy.

My mother in law only needed surgery and did quite well physically after her surgery.

God bless you and may He and your doctors completely heal you so that you have no problems after the surgery.

Two years in a long time between colonscopy. If the cancer is aggressive it could form in months. So it is possible that it was clear last check. I know this because my Mum had regular cancer checks, and in may this year she was diagnosed with kidney cancer. It was VERY aggressive she pasted away sept 7. I wish you all the best in fighting this horrible disease

Your name and questioning style seem familiar...did you post about ovarian cancer a number of times on here a few months ago?
