Nope not illegal if you do it once. Anymore than that and it is probably a sex crime. You will probably get the S*h*i*t slapped out of you the first time.

Soliciting is illegal in some countries but not in all countries. Which country are you from? In which country do you want to approach others? There are more than 100 countries in the world. Laws vary from country to country. Help us by giving more information.

Totally legal, as long as they are adults of legal age. Good luck, and hope you don't get slapped in the face. I wish I had the nerve to do that.

If it were illegal, a LOT of us (men and women BOTH) would've been charged with a crime at one time or another.

No it is not illegal unless you continue pursuit after they turn you down. Asking for sex is not a crime. Asking for sex in exchange for something else is a crime.

As long as you don't offer any consideration (cash or anything of value) in trade for sex you should be fine. You'll get slapped, but you'll be fine.
