It's better to do less weight with good form than to do heavy "cheater" reps. Go for a weight where you can maintain good form and reach exhaustion somewhere between 10-20 reps. By exhaustion, I mean failure -- you can't do any more reps no matter how hard you try. Then rest 60-90 seconds before you start your next set.

Try learning to use dumbells and barbells. With free weights, your muscles are learning balance and control as well as push-pull. This will bring your smaller muscles into play too, and provide more complete overall conditioning. Remember, doing 10 reps in slow motion can accomplish as much or more than rushing thru 20 reps.

Heavier weight in about 4-7 seven reps will build mass. If your looking for toning then High reps low weight :)

Start with a light normal weight and get used to how to move it. Do this regularly and you can increase the amount of times you lift the weights and you then can push yourself just a bit at at a time so you can get a heavier weight.

To build body mass few reps with maximum weight this tears the tissue down so it builds up bulkier. for tone less weight and more repetitions. both are good for the heart.

yeah your just going to tear something and be permanently hurt. you do a weight that you can left at least 30 times but it should get more strainful the more reps you do.

2 things to keep in mind....

lighter weight with more reps creates leaner more "cut" muscles.

heavier weights with slower less frequent reps creates bulkier muscles...so it's your choice!

But don't over do it...and always wear proper braces and support.

is this a non secular question? If B is two times as heavy as A, it is going to likely be two times as heavy as A. Edit: the nicely suited answer is that if B is two times as heavy as A it takes two times as lots stress to develop it. except you could arise with a diverse thank you to quantify "how heavy it feels", then stress will could do.
