I give an up to a good joke even if it attacks my beliefs. I give a down to a bad joke even if it supports my beliefs. It's the quality of the statement--if it's a joke that isn't funny, then it gets the down, that's all.

By the way, I think I give you an up about 9 out of 10 times, my dear.

I have yet to meet a fundamentalist who actually had a sense of humor. Their idea of humor is "In the case of Rapture, this car will be unmanned." Like someone else said, they often don't think, just react. Just watch how many thumbs-down I get for this.

I normally don't thumbs down an obvious attempt at humor. I think God has a since of humor so why shouldn't I? The only time I give a thumbs down is closed minded disrespect. I will give that to fellow Christians as well.

--edit LOL! Thanks for the thumbs down! Now see that was funny!

I usually only thumb down straight out bashes, but even that is rare. Sometimes its hard to tell who is trying to just be humorous when its been one bash after another.

For the same reason I didn't laugh in school when bullies knocked me down in the dirt and then got mad because I "couldn't take a joke." When Christians giggle over people going to hell or atheists laugh at Christians for "kissing Jesus' butt" they are cyber-bullying.

I'm christian, I like humor. That is as long as it's all in fun and not bashing anyone who is asking a valid question. BTW, how many thumbs down you think you'll see in the answers to your question?

I can't explain them. I don't understand it, myself. I give thumbs up to witty Christian answers even when I disagree with them.

And I think it's a select group, not the majority. Too many nice Christians here.

How do you know Christians are giving it a thumbs down-they may be, but how do you know? :) I personally don't give thumbs down to people unless they are rude or mean or trolling!!

Because they lack senses of humor - and haven't been able to find them on sale at Walmart.

I think it would depend on the Christian. Some of the people who answer these questions take their own opinions way too seriously. I would think that somebody who's going to live in eternal bliss would be more lighthearted, instead of petty and vindictive. I have a theory that Jesus liked to tell jokes.
