We all have to remember that death is a part of life. :)

What does avoidability have to do with fear? Nothing. I think the reason that a lot of people fear death is pretty obvious: it is potentially painful and results in the loss of everything you possess and know. The fact that it is unavoidable has nothing to do with it. If you were kidnapped by terrorists and were tied to a table and they were going to come back and torture you in 5 minutes, would you be unafraid just because it was unavoidable? I think not. Why should death be any different, especially if it might be painful or to someone who does not believe in an afterlife?

I think that people are afraid of death because they don't know what is going to happen to them after they die or just the fact of dying

That sounds like the exact reason why people are afraid.

Imagine if you know an asshole was going to punch your stomach at any time in the day and could be anywhere. That would certainly put me in a jittery state

Partially because it can happen at anytime. Partially because what happens afterward is unknown. Do we cease to exist or is there an afterlife? I don't know anyone who has come back to tell the story...

they probably are afraid of leaving behind loved ones..how people will take it, what they will miss, what they could prevent from happening in the future and mostly how they will die is probably the scariest part.
