yes, and it can literally drive you insane! The lysergic acid produced by the mold can make you have visions and hallucinogenic episodes!

This is a tricky question as the problem is knowing what type of mold is on the bread. Certain molds are helpful and healthy to us. But some can be dangerous. They can cause just an upset stomach but others can cause serious illness and death. Other molds can cause madness. Some molds have been linked to certain cancers. So, be on the safe side and do not eat the moldy bread. Don't try to eat around the mold either because the spores are everywhere.

Sounds like you should be fine ... you're taking your penicillin daily :) Seriously though ... Is all moldy food dangerous? Food poisoning is caused by various bacterial organisms. Mold is not a bacteria and will not cause food poisoning. Mold does not cause botulism unless the product was already contaminated with the botulism organism. Mold can cause illness, especially if the person is allergic to molds. Usually though, the main symptoms from eating moldy food will be nausea or vomiting from the bad taste and smell of the moldy food.

apparently people just scrape it off and use the bread, cheese etc
i dont personally like it and throw out the affected bread and cut of the bit of cheese and use the rest,
but its harmless and infact some of the moulds on food, like penicillium, are healthy for you and used in medicine

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the mould on bread is fairly harmless.
I still wouldn't recommend eating it though.
