our name appears to be showing with our phone number on someone elses caller id . how do we stop this ? have more privacy ?

You have to call your phone company and ask them to block display. In some states they charge you a fee to do this.

Depending on what state you are from, there is a code that you can dial right before you make your phone call. For example, here in New York, it is *67 and then the phone number. But keep in mind though that some people who you are calling might not accept private call, so you would have to call them back without hiding your number.

You could make it "anonymous" by pressing *67 for each call. However many people you might call have activated "anonymous call rejection" and you will not get through.

If you get through and are being anonymous so they don't realize who is making annoying calls, the person receiving the call can dial *57 to activate call trace. The phone company will hold the number that called you for a police investigation of harassing or terrorism.

you put *67 and then dial the number and then it will come up private

use*67 every time you call someone, but then your call might not get thru!!!
