I always wanted to see what it's like.

Do they have services in English or just fluent Arabic?

Also what is a good English translation of the Quran and where can I find one?

Thanx

Yes, you can go. Just be respectful and polite.
I am a Christian and recently went to the Greater Cincinnati Islamic Center in search of a free copy of the Qur'an to help understand our Islamic brothers.
When I arrived, I was the only Caucasian person there, but people greeted me warmly from all sides and welcomed me inside the mosque. Not only did I get a Qur'an, but also a study guide, new member lessons on tape, invitation for free Arabic language classes, invitation to attend the equivalent of a sermon later in the week, and people offering me their phone numbers if I had questions.
Ultimately, I stood in the mosque while those around me recited their prayers in Arabic. It was truly an awesome sight.

The whole experience helped me to better understand their faith, and I'm glad that I did it.

Sure you can.

All you need to do is take a shower and make sure that you take off your shoes at the door (to keep the place of worship pure and clean).

Depending on the mosque that you go to... but I'm sure that most of them have Arabic and English. Last month (in Ramadan) many people came to the mosque we went to.

If you want translation to the Qur'an, then you can try going to
www.search the truth.com, you'll find all four translations, but I can't really say which is the best... losts of things are lost with translation.

You can try reading from all four if that will help.

Peace :).

I don't know where by oremus gets her information from but i'd love to see those verses from the Quran that support her bigoted view of islam.

anyway Yea you can definately go to a mosque, and in america most likely the imam will speak english. you can pick up a Quran and other booklets there or you can order a free copy from this website :

http://www.freekoran.com/

and here's to help you find a mosque :

http://www.salaam.co.uk/mosques/

http://www.islamicfinder.org/

for more information

to those that think that only muslims can go to mosques, here's a nice piece of information... the Quran says that ANY person (muslim or not) that seeks refuge in a mosque during a war MUST be spared and not harmed. Imagine, the Quran says that during war, if your enemy stops attacking at you and seeks refuge in a mosque then you are not permitted to harm them, on the contrary you're supposed to help them and ensure that they are safe there.

Peace,

Yes sure you can go if you want to know about Islam but not to disrespect Muslims, and here's a site with three different good translations of the Quran:

Yes you can go to the mosque.

We do our daily prayers in Arabic. However, most of the lectures, speeches, and most importantly the Friday speech are in English because most people there don't understand Arabic.
