It seems kind of petty for god to demand a third party sacrifice in the first place, so we already know we're not dealing with someone with a full deck.

Where are you getting your information? Jesus died for everyone, even those who did not have a religion. Don't you remember what he said to the two other men who hung on crosses the same time he did? He did not ask them their religion, he also knew they were guilty of the crimes they were being hung for but he told them both "today you will be with me in paradise" Read your Bible more closely. He doesn't even ask you to be a certain religion. He died so that all may have eternal life, no stipulations as to religion. I have to disagree with tuberoot, he does not have all the answers, just his opinions. If he had all the answers he would not be on this earth, he would be in heaven. His interpretation of the scriptures is just that, his interpretations. It doesn't mean they are right.Sorry Tuberoot, many, many ministers in my family. The Bible says to pray for understanding. Just because you can quote scripture (so can I) doesn't mean you have the understanding of it. No one understands it all.

No. It wasn't petty, it was promise. He died for these reasons:

He considers some 'treasure':
Matthew 13
44 "The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field."

He loves:
John 3
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

He set boundaries between the 'trusters' and the 'non-trusting':
John 3
18 "Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

He even told us who the 'trusters' were:
John 6
44 "No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up at the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets: 'They will all be taught by God.' Everyone who listens to the Father and learns from him comes to me."

Jesus gave those who trusted Him assurances:
John 10
3 "The watchman opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When he has brought out all his own, he goes on ahead of them, and his sheep follow him because they know his voice. 5 But they will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger's voice."

And through His Spirit:
John 15
26"When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. 27And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning."

And so I testify. I am not alone, but have His help. So I can answer you because I know the answers.

He was not selfish or petty, He knew exactly what He wanted from this temporary Earth, and He guides us to the Earth that He is promising us. Anyone who He does not want simply are not interested. They are not going to come to Him, since it's against human nature to accept it. It's too difficult to understand for them. But the nature that comes from God is a counterforce to human nature, and we who are studied in the word keep watch to see when He will fulfill what He promised.

What made you conclude that?

Jesus died for the sins of mankind but very few would accept it. Before Jesus went to heaven he told His deciples to spread the good news of his ressurecion so that people might believe. During that time it was only the Jews (the model race) that was acceptable to God, but with Jesus and thru Jesus, so was the gentiles (meaning us non-Jews). So he died for the sins of man (creation). But some people would rather stick to believing in their own system of beliefs based on the lies of this world. You cannot say the "word of our salvation" was not presented to you or to the world...it was there, we are witnesses, but still you guys CHOOSE not to believe, it was yours (& their's) choice not to believe that Jesus DIED FOR YOUR (& THEIR) SINS and NOT JESUS.

merely for exciting, by utilising asking the main marvelous question? If the God did no longer toss you into hell, he will the two turn you away or supply you opportunities for redemption. in case you have self assurance in reincarnation, it quite is redemption, bypass bypass into opposite, bypass the attempt and are available lower back later. shy away, you may ask your self aimlessly, and desire Jesus will come for you, or till ultimately run into any super beings and individuals of a various faith that might actually assist you out. connect the forces of devil, and desire sooner or later will tear the heaven down, hahaha!

For me, personally, I find the idea unreasonable. The supposed son of a god, who supposedly is a god, supposedly caring enough for every person that is alive or is ever going to live is untenable. But, that is for those who need the "father-figure" type of belief structure. I prefer a much more adult view on the subject.

Jesus was a Jew. He died for the Jews. The Jews are the chosen people, chosen by Jesus. He didn't die for Christians.

Salam

He was the cleaner and the wiper and he didn't die, so your question is void. Religion has a line from Abraham so again your question is void, and you know that makes you quite void then now doesn't it?

Jesus died for those that the father had given him. No one deserves salvation.

He died for all of the sins. He did it for everyone, but it is a personal decision to accept His offer. He paid the ransom, but we do not have to accept it.
