I don' believe in a God thatt condemns people to eneternity in hell for not believing in something. Nobody knows th etruth unless they spoke to God themselves, and I think as long as a person is moral and good they will have a place in the afterlife.

No, following a religion without faith in it is a waste of time and honestly makes no sense. How could you follow a religion like Christianity if you do not believe in God and therefore can't worship him? Do you think any God would be pleased to just see you go through the motions? Let the atheists be-- believe me, you will not convert or even make a good case for any spiritual belief with a question like this.

It won't do any good to have a religion if you don't believe it. If you want to be a 'good' person, then practicing a religion may help you attain some level of morality and good will toward others, but it will be useless in the afterlife.
I don't know what to tell you about atheists. Those that have chosen not to believe in God because someone has convinced them there is none are not using wisdom- they are letting others dictate to them, rather than diligently seeking for truth on their own.
Those who used to believe in God, (and from what I understand from reading R&S answers, a lot of them used to be Christians) they have turned away from the faith, and I fear greatly for them. It would have been better for them to NEVER have believed. Realize that, if they find that there truly is a God, what can they possibly say to Him then? They will have no excuse and the punishment will be far more severe than had they never believed at all.

You need to understand that there's a difference between a religion and having a faith in God. The Atheists does not believe there is a God. So, they can have any religion they want. But faith calls for a 'relationship'. You can't have a relationship with a religion. You have a relationship with a person - the Person of God.

Religion was developed to explain the unexplainable and to control the masses. It is better to be true to yourself than to fake belief in something you find not to be true. If you feel you need to believe in something, follow in the beliefs of the ancients ie... the Druids, Shamans, and Taoists. Believe in Nature and you cannot go wrong. Throw out what you find to be bogus and keep the truths. Religions have to many hypocrites already for you to be adding your self as one.
I was Raised Roman Catholic married Mormon twice and I am now a practicing Druid, (for want of a better name). Just because I was Catholic does not mean that I ever believed.

I don't think that anyone should to pretend to have a belief, especially if the fear is that someone will hate them if they don't.
I wouldn't say I'm an atheist, but I don't believe in organized religion. If someone wants to hate me for that, then that's really their problem, not mine.

In my opinion, religion, in the broad sense, may not necessarily mean you have to believe in a god/gods.
As it appears us humans need something to center our life, that governs all other facets of our life. So someone who believes in god, will fit the rest of his life around that.
But with that reasoning, it is possible, to have nearly anything as a 'religion', like money, family, house, car, job, anything that basically you let govern your life.
Therefore, most of us unknowingly actually worship "something".
With that said, it is possible then, to have a religion or belief in god, yet unknowingly in our heart put something else first in our lives. So an atheist doesn't need to believe in god, but still have a form of religion to something/someone else.
And it is possible that a person who says he believes in god, doesn't necessarily believe in his heart, as he may have something else their.
But whatever the case, there is only ever room for one religion in the heart.
I don't mean to offend anyone, I'm only attempting to answer the question.

I'm not offended.
Our belief is not to believe. Actually, I'm agnostic. So I will never know the answer and I spend my time thinking about something else! Having strong faith is not to be peer pressured into another. If people hate me for that, well, that's their problem.

It is not better to have a religion you don't really believe in. There would be no point to it and it would serve no purpose.
Each person is going to have to decide for himself or herself what they believe and what is right for them. Nobody has all the answers. If people had all the answers, nobody would be asking questions.

It's not offensive. I'm used to it and you are very polite in your phrasings.
I have no beliefs, none, which is what the believers hate. And fear. They can't have my brain, so they drag out quotes from thousand of years ago to "prove" me wrong.
The way I live my life is probably morally superior to most of them on here. But they would disagree since I do support FREEDOM.
