If you have a HDTV, I recommend that you get an HDMI cable and if you don't have a HDTV, get some component cables for the PS3. The component cables will give you a better picture with the PS3 than the composite cables that come with the system.
And of course, get some good PS3 games as well.
Other than some upgraded cables and games, there is nothing else that you really need to buy, the 60GB PS3 has nearly everything you need built in.

HDMI cables if you have a HDTV (they aren't expensive at all). Buy a blue-ray movie for the experience, and needless to say get a couple of good games. Might i recommend Resistence fall of Man and Call of Duty 3?

The PS3 comes with all the cables and one controller for your television. It includes of course a blue ray DVD player inside of the PS3. You need to buy a game to play and if you want to watch a Blue Ray DVD then you need to purchase a movie DVD.
The PS3 connects to the internet wirelessly. Make sure you have DSL or Cable internet at home through your home network. You need to have a router hooked up to your computer.
