I have noticed that if i hint that this war is for profits instead of any noble cause, i unleash the hellfire of military scorn. It seems odd how sensitive they are on this subject. Do any people in the military not believe in bush and cos motives for the war?

I am former military, and I fought in the First Gulf War. And this war is absolutely for oil and profits, if you can't See that by now you are a fool who doesn't want to see the truth. I value our military service members and it pains me greatly to know they are over there fighting for a lie, Saddam never threatened my rights as an American, he never threatened me or this country, that is a lie devised by GW Bush to sway public opinion so that he could fulfill his quest on Iraq. GW Bush has taken away More of my rights and freedoms with the Patriot Act than Saddam or any Iraqi ever did.
See the links below-The intel was know to be false and questionable. This administration is not taking care of the Veterans, and if you click on t he 10 year tab on the last Exxon link you will See what this war is really about.
Edit: Eric S. You need to rethink your position on supply and demand. Yes you are correct China is consuming more oil and it is affecting the demand side(not the supply side) and therfore price but what is the other side of that? (supply). Iraq has the second largest oil reserves, and people think because price hasn't dropped and the oil isn't flowing that is the proof that it is not for oil, well that is exactly the proof. By keeping the Oil off the market (Saddam was even trading Oil for food and infringing on the oil market), Saudi Arabia, Bush's close freinds and business partners control the supply and can therfore control the price. They are actually capping wells rather than opening them. Check out the link for Exxon Mobil and tell me if that isn't true. That is why Exxon is posting record profits, in excess of $40 billion in a quarter. And the Saudi's are laughing all the way to the banks.

Of course there are. The question really should be what profits and where are they going to? The truth is these profits are different than the types of profits that give us clean water, food, and shelter. These profits are for war businesses that the government has contracted with private companies. For years I have been screaming that the democrats building up their big governments would lead to this abuse of power by the warmongering right. Unfortunately the libertarian candidates are never given true consideration! So the cycle will continue......the democrats will keep building big forceful IRS governments while the republicans use this taxing power to attack our civil liberties. It is funny because republican today is not the same thing as republican 20 years ago! It use to be about freedom and the democrats just hated on the competitors for having rights. Today the republicans spend just as much if not more than democrats! Makes me want to throw up! Taxes are slavery! The only way to stop wars and stop power from being built into the hands of evil is to allow freedom for all! The competitive market has lowered racism, has spread wealth better than any other system(especially today's America of big government), his enables civil liberties and lowers federal controls on the peaceful! Less government, not more is the ONLY answer! These big government cartels are allowing Exxon and the Saudi's extra profits, not the free market! Thanks big government pushers, they can't be stopped. They will kill us with their coercive government!

If you know that 1+1 i= 2 (you are aware of that, aren't you?), but there a hundred people who constantly contend that 1=0, and that 1+1 = 0 you might ignore them. I mean some people think the Earth is flat. But these people won't leave you alone.they're trying to convince you that you're wrong. Not only that they try to convince other people they're right too. They offer algebraic proof of their contention... they quote "experts" who confirm their contentions. But they won't let the matter rest.
Wouldn't you get a little upset. You know they're not right. You know they can't change the fact that 1+1=2, not 0. But you are concerned that somebody who is as gullible as these morons are stupid, may believe the bull. So, at first, you state your position. No good... they don't shut up. So you take their statements and point out the flaws... Still doesn't dissuade them. So you finally get perturbed. You identify them as morons who don't know the foggiest thing about math and perhaps show the mathematical proof that 1+1=2 is true. But these morons won't shut up.
It's not that the military is sensitive. It's that they're fed up with ridiculous contentions.

u . s . a . of america as an entire would be procuring this conflict for years yet to come again at NO income to the rustic as an entire. Now a definite 3% will make mega earnings from oil contracts and no bid reconstruction contracts..........makes Bush and Cheyney smile on the thought of their retirement years being paid for by potential of the sweat and blood of the U. S. service guy and woman.....what the heck do they care, as maximum service workers are from the relax ninety seven% and not equivalent to their social status in that 3%.

It all depends on how much research you really want to do. I know for a fact that our military in Iraq are protecting civilians from local insurgents. I know for a fact that our soliders are being targeted by rockets, mortars, and rifle fire. I know this becuase my husband is there.
In the grand scheme of things it is very much blurred or swayed to the various political winds. If you delve deep into when this all started...(with clinton btw) and fallow it to the present you will find that our military service persons are fallowing orders and sacrificing their freedoms for you and your family. The insurgents want nothing more than to destroy our way of life anyway they can. 911 was just the beginning.
You are reading this in English...Thank a solider...

If you truly believe that this war was for profit then you are mentally slow. Not that there is anything wrong with being mentally slow I happen to enjoy donating my time to the Special Olympics.
To believe that this war is for profit is to deny the basics of economics. Any Prof can tell you that. I am certain that you think you are smarter that any prof though.
You see when we have more of something, lets say oil for this scenario, price will inevitably drop. Despite the recent price jumps in oil, if Iraq were left alone the price would still be the same if not higher. You see China is consuming way more oil than they were just 2 years ago. So supply is down because of them, so price goes up. You understand basic economics yet?

I think many of them agree with you and do not agree with Bush...but they are signed up for any number of years, and they'd basically have nothing to work for if they really focused on the fact that they were doing something that they didn't necessarily "believe" in...so they put their opinions aside and do the job that they signed up to do, which was to listen to orders.

But what I can't stand is people saying, "oh bush is a pig he has posted my son out overseas to get killed." It was that son who signed up in the first place.

I think soldiers are trained in such a way that, they only follow the orders. They are made not to think about the reason, morality or validity behind the war. So, it does not really matter.
