That still dose not explain why not declare De jure Independence for Gaza and then work for the rest.

It is one thing to talk Independence, it's something else to find enough in agreement to form a ruling party.
They don't want a new Muslim state, they want all Israeli's dead.
This is the problem the common person in Gaza has to live with everyday. You know the Muslim that just wants to raise a family in peace.
Israeli government ,American government, Muslim party leaders non of these people have the best interest of the people in mind.

Hamas and the Hamas leaders have already amitted that their ownership of the Gaza strip is only temporary.
There is no way that Hamas can control Gaza "forever" howeverlong that is.
