This isn't meant to be offensive to any atheists because I'm an atheist. Sorry if it offends anyone, but I just really don't get it.

Absolutely Nothing! Stop apologizing. If people are offended, it's their problem. Be proud you are a Freethinker and don't need imaginary friends in order to live an ethical life. If someone tells you that you are going to hell, tell them you don't believe in hell (but they do :).

Check out the website for the Freedom From Religion Foundation below. They have a link for the Freethought of the Day which is a quote by a famous atheist. They also broadcast the first national one hour weekly radio program, Freethought Radio, devoted to "non-religion" which is hardly equal time for all the religious programming out there.

Millions of famous people are or have been atheists. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are two that come to mind. You can also find a list of famous atheists on Wikipedia.

Jasmine, there is really nothing offensive about this question.
You are not attacking Christians or Atheist and nobody should have the need to be offended by a simple question.

You will never get everybody to answer in the same way. People who are Christian will tell you being Atheist is wrong and Atheists will tell you it's not wrong. It is a good question, but I don't have all the answers. Religion or lack of it is something that people have questioned for so long and still nobody agrees.

Don't worry about offending anyone there are people in the world that you can say hi to and it will offend them. Anyone that takes offense to your question has to be quite ignorant. You have asked an honest question that has gotten many honest answers. The only correct answer to your question is the answer that you formulate from all the information that you have been given. There is no right or wrong in how or what a person believes as long as it does not hurt another physically or deprives them of their freedom.

Perhaps the only thing wrong with being an atheist is that an atheist believes there is no God. I consider myself an Atheist, but I am really an agnostic who believes that there is very small chance that there is a "God/Heaven" of some sort. We cannot prove that God doesn't exist. This is by no means a reason to believe in any faith or any form of God. We know nothing of God if there is a God/Heaven.

So be an Agnostic at heart and have hope for the future. You don't have to define this hope/faith in any way. Just be happy and strong.

But be an Atheist in public. We have no reason to take any action on behalf of God. Our fellow humans should come first, because we know they are real. I hope this helps.

There is nothing "wrong" about it. The people who say there is used to point to the Soviet Union and claim that their atheism was the reason their government was so repressive, when the truth was that it wasn't that or their communist economy, but the fact that they went from a totalitarian state ruled by a czar or czarina to a totalitarian state ruled by some other prick.

Making atheism look like something bad gives phony "Christians" an excuse to take away the rights of Americans, the same way they used to complain that the "godless communists" took away the rights of their people. Funny how you never hear about "godless capitalism," even though greed and warmongering for profit are warped "Christian" values.

One word: HYPOCRISY

there's nothing wrong about it.

just the concept people believe in. It's always easier to believe that there's a greater power above us. People been believing that for ages. And it's getting stronger by days. and these people refuse or rather couldnt accept that there's non believer.

imagine one day.. that.. God doesnt exist at all.. it will take away the fundamental of Islam and Christian. and imagine the chaos that will come. It's just too... harsh.

there's nothing wrong being an atheist at least to me.

There's nothing wrong with being an atheist. Not unless, of course, you live in certain parts of the U.S. where atheists cannot hold public office. The discrimination is sometimes subtle and sometimes not so subtle.
I glad that raional doubt, that is, skepticism, continues to erode irrational belief. But like geological erosion, it's a long process.
Atheist, and quietly proud!

I am a Christian, and i don't hate you, because I am a Christian, I truly love you. I am also sad for you, isn't it a dreary life without any hope? It is your decision in what you believe, or don't believe no matter what anybody else tells you. My question is why do Atheist believe in what they do? I can see Buddhist, and other beliefs, but to not believe in anything, I guess I just can't comprehend how. If you look at history, archeology, and allot of science, they back my beliefs up more then any other. If you believe in evolution, that has been proving against many times. If you go to www. the museum of natural history.org it can explain that better then I can. Anyways, i really don't think that it is a question about either one of us hating one another, it is about difference of belief. That is why when people bash Christians, I get upset back at them, and you have the right to get upset at Atheist bashes.

because of the fact, in accordance to a minimum of a few ideals and philosophies, it is not any longer merely a count number of opinion, that's a controversy of fact. and ideology approximately truths are not merely a count number of flavor, they are able to have outcomes. From the merely actual: "of path they do no longer look to be toadstools" and ""it is not any longer loaded" to the question of no count number if perception in a single specific deity conforms with fact and determines one's eternal destiny. (Hell for non-Christians? Many hundreds of thousands have self assurance it!) changing what human beings have self assurance might nicely be important. no longer see you later in the past heart attack victims have been cautioned six weeks mattress relax... that is seen actionable maltreatment now. So, some human beings could be extra desirable off, extra wisely modelling fact, in the event that they replaced their ideals. That, I post, is for specific. The exciting bit is the controversy approximately *which* ideals gain that. In some places and cases the situation has been concept settled, and people who did no longer conform might desire to be punished, accomplished or medically dealt with. in lots of yet no longer all places in the international now, there's a level of tolerance, as that's recognized that sane human beings might carry diverse positions on the elementary nature of the universe. yet they are able to't all be ideal. And none of them is precisely ideal. (and that i'm chuffed to shield that final sentence.)
