There is a guy I like and I'm beginning to like as well. We are in the same program at school and we are both Christians. However, he is a follower of the "Word of Faith" doctrine. Before I met him, I knew about this movement and I disagree with most of what that doctrine states, especially "Jesus died so we could be healthy, wealthy and happy."
Am I being too harsh if I turn him down simply because of his doctrinal beliefs?

That's a very reasonable (and mature) reason for turning a person down.

Why wouldn't you consider a person's beliefs when you consider dating them? You wouldn't date someone who believed in animal abuse, would you?

So no, you are not being too harsh.

It's good that you are questioning this before you get too involved. Try having a conversation with him were you let him know what you think about his beliefs and your beliefs. Better to get it out in the open now, before hearts are broken.
