You can't fake cooking. It tastes good or it doesn't. Ordering in just before they arrive and producing it from the kitchen...on the other hand...

need more info. Are you talking in conversation or are you actually preparing a meal? I had to come back before you even answered this and just say that either way you can't. In conversation, to a real cook using words you don't truly understand will only make you appear foolish. I once worked with a guy that said he could make the 5 master sauces perfectly but his favorite was mirepoix (mirepoix is not a sauce but a combination of carrots, onions and celery most often used when preparing stocks). I didn't say anything but I laughed my butt off inside. As far as cooking; yes, you can learn how to cook this and that by following recipes but you'll never be a good cook if you do not have a good pallete, and that is something that can't be learned.

I love to cook but am still learning. If you're cooking for someone specific I'd pick a good but pretty basic and easy recipe and try it out once before cooking for them. Also, try watching "The Cooking Guy". His show is awesome! He never went to school for cooking and sticks with the basics yet makes really good meals. Go to Thecookingguydotcom for a list of his recipes. Hope this helps!

There is no way to appear to know alot about anything when you don't. You will always get found out.
Read up on cooking, practice and share what you do know. Be open to learning from and sharing with others and you will impress people much more than you would pretending to be a know it all.

Yeah, I have a friend who tries to do this, but then she'll start the fish and the salad and put the rice on last...
In other words, you can't fool real cooks. We know a non-cook when we're in your kitchen.

Take the salt, or other spices, and pour just a little in your palm, then take the other fingers of your hand, grab a little pinch, and sprinkle it in what you're cooking! They'll say,"How much do you use of.........." You say, "Oh a pinch of this, a dab of that! If that doesn't work blow pepper out of your palm in their eye's, and run! Just kiddin'!
