I only believe God exists because he personally introduced himself to me. There's nothing "vague" about my belief. It's just that organized religions are corrupt tyrannies used for control and power. And they go to war with each other and kill to keep their power. That's not true religion in my opinion.

There is only 1 living being in the
universe who is superior to all others.
That is my definition of which God I'm
talking about. The only one.

Yes, if you believe in God but have no religion, you are a Deist.

Yes, relative to "organized religions", and paradoxically there is a world-wide, organized religion -- the Baha'i Faith -- that proclaims this. "He [Baha'u'llah] sets forth a new principle for this day in the announcement that religion must be the cause of unity, harmony and agreement among mankind. If it is the cause of discord and hostility, if it leads to separation and creates conflict, the absence of religion would be preferable in the world." "Another new principle revealed by Baha'u'llah is the injunction to investigate truth– that is to say, no man should blindly follow his ancestors and forefathers. Nay, each must see with his own eyes, hear with his own ears and investigate the truth himself in order that he may follow the truth instead of blind acquiescence and imitation of ancestral beliefs." (The Promulgation of Universal Peace, pp. 454-5).

Yes, I believe in God, live by the Bible standards as much as I can, but i do not belong to any one church, or attend church, so I don't consider myself religious.

There are very good teachings in all the religions, and I like to learn from all of them, finding the similiarities in people instead of differences. This fact alone precludes me from really being accepted (or accepting) any one religious institution, but I do believe in God.

Yes. Take Satan, for example. He certainly believes... knows beyond the shadow of a doubt... that God exists.

But is He religious? No.

And of what benefit is "religion" anyway?

Jesus saved His harshest words for the most "religious" of His day, the Pharisees, Saducees and Scribes. This because they had made a religion designed to promote service unto themselves.

But James (Jesus' half-brother and a late convert to the faith) describes "true" religion at its best:

James 1:27
Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

Religions are a dime a dozen. But believing in God calls for a faith! Faith is not a religion. It's a relationship with God. So I guess it's possible.

Yes, that is a correct thing to do. The Bible states that religion is useless idle repetition. One must have a relationship with God through Christ Jesus, not follow the traditions of religion to enter heaven.

Definitely! Religions are man made sets of rituals that evolved from pagan times when people thought they could influence gods by what they did.

Absolutely! You don't need to join a religion in order to believe in god. Many people are very non-religious but believe in god wholeheartedly.
