What are your wiews on them.
This was mainly brought to my attention when my sister took me to her church as an attempt to evengelize me..I felt that the church was just ridiclous. It was humongus, like a college campus..They have a whole bunch of unessacry things like empty buildings and rooms, and really if they are suppose to 'preach the word of god' then why do they need all of this stuff. A stadium abel to fit 'round a thousand and cameras and backdrops and things..really they'd probably raise more money then a whole county PTA in one night nad just use it on other useless crap..
So what are your views on 'Mega Churches"

All churches are ridiculous. Mega churches are merely capitalizing on technology to spread the manure over a wider area; no different than a farmer using a manure spreading machine instead of getting his hands dirty.

Mega churches are profitable because they can reach more suckers at the same time. Only when people start thinking rationally and reject religion altogether will they fail.

There was a time when a Minister or Pastor would make a point of knowing the members of his congregation personally, would visit the sick and shut-ins and always be available for counselling or just a chat. In those days the Church was respected even by people who were not religious and churches had a good standing in the community. This is still the case in some churches in some communities but all too often nowadays churches have come to resemble businesses with the TV evangelists leading the way in gouging the gullible. As for Mega churches, well, Billy Graham showed the way with his big crusades in the 50`s & 6o`s to save people. Now with mega -churches it is an unholy alliance of sho-biz, religion and big business - I suppose God knows what they do with the money they rake in but I doubt whether much goes to worthwhile charitable purposes - more likely to build and maintain more mega- churches. They may utter the words of God but the spirit is missing.

I love the small Church. Pastor is part of the family, and every one knows you.
But the Mega Church's are the new thing. I worry that its because there is no accounting to anyone. No fellowship between each other.
I had rather know the church feed the poor, then build a new building. My pastor will boo me for this , but its my heart.
The church I am in now is growing like crazy. But so much is changing. I told the pastor ,when the church is so big ,I can't call you . Then I am gone.
We need Pastor who know their congregation and can feed the flock.<><

I have been to a Mega Church. I found it very seeker and family friendly. Personally, I think that they are not as accurate as they should be, but get a bad rap in total lack of recognition of the mega church of the mega churches; the Roman Catholic Church. If people want to go after mega churches, let them also go after the Roman Catholic Church. It would only be fair and justified.

Shameful confession: I love medieval churches and Cathedrals, but that's because I love old architecture and marvel at the detal in the buildings.

Modern Mega Churches are just like a gigantic barn, zero 'soul', all A$$ and no class and designed so you get that cinematic feeling of Gawds presence as you fork over the contents of your wallet or purse to Charlatans-R-Us, inc of Topeka. (or wherever).

If I were a believer (I'm not) I'd take a small church anyday.

the modern mega church Godbowl concept scares me as the foucus seems to be on the pastor and filling seats and not teaching the Gospel. Thre is no pastorial relationship their may be tachers at these mega churches but no spiritual fathers.

Salam

Sell everyone of them or give every single dollar back to the poor then they are valid. Any profit made from these places is a direct sin and violation of religion.

I don't trust their teachings. How did they get so big? Did they compromise the truth just to fill seats in the building? Be careful!!!
