Yes, very strange. Weren't they supposed to be whooshed up to heaven? They must have been quite a sight, having been dead for who knows how long. They must have taken all the townspeople with them too, since there is not a single mention of these walking dead men in historical accounts from the period.

You would think something as marvelous as that would have been better documented.

Is it really that difficult for an author to claim something like that happened 100 years earlier? Who could refute it if it was written much later than the purported events?

Passages such as that are proof that Matthew was written well into the 2nd century at the earliest.

Jesus was the first to be resurrected from the dead... but others followed... Jesus, when He died, went into the place of the dead where he preached to those who were waiting for him to conquer death....all the righteous dead from the past. They were then released from that place and Christ led them on high.... and until Christ ascended into heaven, they got to walk around the city of Jersalem.... and then Jesus took them all to heaven.... No one says they were causing trouble... They were not ghosts... Just resurrected people like Jesus was. Must have been interesting to talk to them...
