No - it's because the fear of being wrong drives people to kill others more viciously. Your reasoning assumes the hype is true, never good logic.

They aren't.
Look at the historical record. Any of the wars fought over political ideology in the last two centuries tend to be far worse than any religious wars.
Even prior to that, look at wars of conquest, the Mongols, Romans, Chinese, Assyrians, Egyptians, etc.
I've left a lot out, by you see my point? Most of the major wars in history were fought for land or ideology, not religion.
Even when there was a religious component there were often other underlying factors, such as political power or control of territory.
Saladin, the great Muslim hero who captured Jerusalem from the Crusaders, fought more wars against Muslims while being allied with Christians, than he fought against the Christians.
Most religious wars tend to be relatively small, local affairs by comparison.
The claim that religious wars are worse that others is not supported by any historic facts. It just seems to be prevalent among people with anti-religious prejudices.

Yes indeed. a bloody war. Because what is being discussed here is belief. More often people are very passionate about their belief and they believe that is the best.

We do not battle against flesh and blood. There is a greater battle going on in the spiritual realm. Jesus saw it in the Pharisees . Nothing has changed Satan can and does manipulate the religious spirit. Put on the "Whole armor of God."

Because we're terrified that this life is all that there is, that we are nothing but animals who happen to have self-awareness. Defending a religious point of view, for many, is borne out of this fear. So much so, that certain people are willing to kill for it.

So-called religious wars are not started by religious people.
Religion is misused as a pretext by rulers, to justify actions.

Fanaticism created by their over self righteous delusions.

Amazing how the "RELIGIOUS" never see anything WRONG when they break their own COMMANDMENTS or beliefs when using violence, torture, and murder on others not of their sect. May they all remember their stupidity in HELL.

there's always an underlying theme to wars over "religion." territory, oil, slaves, take your pick. it's just easier to say you're fighting for "beliefs" instead of power.
