Which one of the trucks would you buy and why, I know that the F-150 tows and hauls more, but the tundra has more power. The ford is a more proven model and the tundra isn't. So which one would you buy and why.

DEFINATELY the F150!
Besides the point that Consumer Guide Magazine has stated that they will NOT recommend the 2007 Toyota Tundra (nor Camry)
Here are just SOME of the reasons why the F150 is a better truck:

"The F-150 FFV with the 5.4L engine can run on unleaded gasoline, E85 (85% ethanol and 15% gasoline) or any mix of the two. That's true flexibility. While E85 is becoming more common, with the 2008 F-150 you can enjoy the benefits of E85 alternative fuel with the peace of mind that you can fill up anywhere the road takes you."

"No other pickup in its class tows more. With max towing of 11,000 pounds it can get you and your gear there confidently."

"The available 5.4L Triton® V8 features two intake valves per cylinder which, combined with variable valve timing, tailors performance to engine speed and load. More low-speed torque to get big loads under way. More high-speed power for passing acceleration and efficient highway cruising. "

"F-150 offers optional telescoping trailer tow mirrors on its various series with a variety of features from manual to power glass, body color to chrome. All provide the ability to extend the mirror farther out from the truck to deliver a better angle to see what's going on behind you. They're available with all series."

"F-150's Trailer Tow Package is an option on all vehicle models. It includes a Class IV trailer hitch receiver, 7-pin wiring harness, upgraded radiator (4.6L or 5.4L engines) and upgraded auxiliary transmission oil cooler (with automatic transmission)."

"F-150 has best-in-class payload capability* - shouldering a massive maximum 3,080 lb. load. And there's no getting around it ... a bigger payload can mean fewer trips, saving time and money!"

"Not only does F-150 have best-in-class payload, it also has the biggest cargo volume* - more than sixty five and a half cubic feet. That's a powerful 1-2 punch when it comes to getting the job done!"

"F-150's easily accessible tow hooks use the "closed loop" design as opposed to competitors' hooks, which may pull out or break."

The F150 has the strongest frame in its class:
"Ford tough begins here, with the strongest frame in its class, a frame proven to stand up to the biggest jobs time and time again. The crossmembers that form the ladder-type construction of the frame pass through both sides of the fully boxed frame rail and are welded to both the inner and outer edges. The front frame rails themselves are constructed using Hydroforming technology, which produces precise frame wall thickness without the inherent stresses and dimensional variations of stamping or welding. That's not tough. That's Ford tough."

F150 earned the Governments highest front crash test rating:
"The manufacturing technology discussed in the previous section earned Ford F-150 the National Highway Traffic Safety Administrations' top rating of Five Stars for the driver and right-front passenger in the 2007 frontal crash category.*

*Star ratings are part of the U.S. Department of Transportation's Safecar.gov Program (www.safercar.gov)."

And if the above is not enough reasons ..... consider the fact of profits going to an American owned auto manufacturer as opposed to a Japanese owned company.

Toyota can claim they have a truck that makes more power, but that's not totally true, and there's a lot they don't tell you. They're comparing a 5.7 to a 5.4, so there should be more power, but Toyota doesn't tell you their quoted power rating is based on premium fuel. You sure you want truck that guzzles premium? If that doesn't bother you, you're still better off with an F-150: get either V8, and then bolt on a supercharger, either from Ford Racing or an aftermarket company like Paxton. Also, the 5.4 3 valve engine is so advanced that it doesn't need an EGR system to meet emissions requirements, but I won't get into the details of that now. It's also true that the quality of Toyota trucks is below industry average, and Ford trucks are above average in quality.

There are ads in my area of professional drivers touting the Tundra over the f-150, yet many are still buying at our store..Why?

Price for one..... Most Toyota stores in our area won't deal on a truck at all.... take the price or leave it...

Two... In a thirty mile radius of where I work, there are 6 places that can work on that f-150 and have or can get the parts to get you back on the road (dealers).... Toyota has 1 ..... Next dealer is over 50 miles away ..that and owners have complained that sometimes it takes weeks to get parts from Japan!!

Three.. yeah the Tundra has more power, but many are complaining of breaking down of the engines on here.... I've seen only 1 5.4 3 valve destroyed by any oil concerns..and that was because the guy didn't change the oil....

So your best bet is to maybe go in the general area and get a better consensus as people here on the Ford section will definitely tout Ford

The new Tundra's are great trucks but yes they dont match the competitors in a few areas... I recently read a Popular Mechanics article and it placed Nissan Titan 1st the Tundra 2nd and silverado 3rd also that is the 2007 Titan vs the 08 versions of the other 2 the ford and dodge placed 4th and 5th... And to that comment ahead 1 star is a huge difference in safety... thats like saying my car has a 1 star rollover rating but if it was 2 star it would still roll over..... c'mon people thats why they have 5 stars to rate from!

Ford.

I don't like being stuck on the side of the road.

Walk into any small time parts store. Ask for Ford parts, now ask for Toyota parts. Which do they have???

Toyota parts average 3-4 times what Ford parts do. Now you are going to get a bunch of ricer-heads screaming about how hi-quality Toys are, but this is a new unproven model. They are having issues with them, the Ford however is all proven drivetrain, with a body update.

If you want a pretty, trendy truck when you are crusing to Old Navy, Starbucks, and the RainForest Cafe then you want the Toyota.

If you need a truck, that is tough, reliable, dependable, will haul or tow anything you can throw at it. Then the Ford is what you want.

If you can see thru the marketing hype of the Tundra, you will see that the F series is a way better engineered truck. And that doesn't even take into account the fact that the tundras are having huge engine problems. The only tundra that has more power is a less than 10% build model, whereas most F series have the 5.4 V8 tried & tested block.

You can go so wrong with a ford. Tundra is better in every way. It has a V8 5.7 Liter an it's still a ULEV II (Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle). Also, the Tundra is American made. Toyota is probably more American than Ford. Only 9% of Ford vehicles are made in America, the rest, they outsourced to Mexico. Instead of closing down plants, losing billions, and laying off thousands of workers, Toyota is doing the opposite and they are bring new plants to America, creating thousands of jobs. The Toyota Tundra is no doubt more reliable and safer (just look at Consumer Reports). For those who think that the F-150 has a great history in truck making, take a look at this link:

http://www.jengajam.com/r/Mini-Ford-Crashtest

THE MINI COOPER IS SAFER THAN A F-150 TWICE AS BIG! No matter what, nothing can warrant the view that a F-150 is better. The tundra is just better. And Toyota trucks are just built better. Have a look at these links:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lrk6vsb77xk

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfZDtC9kjVk

If a F-150 is so tough, why hadn't anyone done this test with a Ford? Maybe because no one find a F-150 that could last 13 years and 190,000 miles...

ALL FORD LOVERS SHOULD SERIOUSLY TAKE LOOK AT THE LINKS ABOVE, AND NOT STAY HIDDEN IN THE CLOSET FOR THE PAST DECADE!

Look at the Stocks for the Big Three. Ford is worth ~$8.00 a share, while Toyota is worth ~$108 a share. You just have to agree that Toyota is doing a better job at everything. The Big Three is no longer American, as GM deserted its standing in Flint, Michigan and Toyota has built new plants and created work or thousands of hard working Americans. Toyota is making billions while helping the world economy and the environment, while "American" makes are losing billions and experimenting with inefficient hybrids and ethanol 85 (which actually created more emissions in the manufacturing process).

Toyota is better than Ford. Why? Japanese cars have better quality than american cars so they won't break down as much. Do you really want to keep fixing it? Also, they have better resale values and their price doesn't drop as quickly
