What is it about you that you can't differentiate between a historical figure and a figure out of a children's story?

Santa Claus and Easter Bunny are just tales. The story of God is real.
He has done a lot for us than Santa or Easter Bunny. Think about them.... who seems to be realistic? Santa or God? Did the Reindeers ever fly?
Or is the most powerful God much more believable?

Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny never had inquisitors killing off anyone that professed to not believe
Thank gawds this country was out of reach of the inquisitors and we had freedom from religion

Now we need freedom from Homeland security so we can believe in Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny again

I think it lets us believe that there is something out there to explain why we are here.
Just a little different then the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy, or Santa Claus

Because with santa and the easter bunny we can follow them back to their origins. With God there is no time when there wasn't God. Why do you have difficulty believing in things greater than yourself?

Logical necessity. Arguments for the existence of God are based on teleology (i.e. First Cause) or ontological necessity (i.e. God defined as the sum of all positive properties). Neither Santa Claus nor the Easter Bunny are defined in terms that require existence. Neither are posited as the First Cause, neither are defined as the sum of all positive properties. Neither are defined as energy, consciousness, the Universe, etc.

Also, neither Santa nor the Eastern Bunny are defined as non-contingent beings. If they were, then they would have to exist according to standard modal logic. Richard Dawkins expresses a similar point. He tried to use the Ontological Argument to prove that flying pigs exist, but theistic philosophers refuted his argument with modal logic. Nevertheless, Kurt Goedel used modal logic to prove the existence of God by defining him as a non-contingent being.

Take one child. Keep telling the child there is a God. Tell the child it will burn in hell if it didn't believe in God. Tell the child it is no good if it doesn't believe in God. Tell the child how good they are when they say they believe in God. Give the child some candy whey they say they believe in god. Get it operant conditioning like a lab rat. To put it another way BRAINWASHING!! The psychological abuse of children!

Because he's my best friend and I talk to him and feel him everyday. That's never happened with the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus, for me anyway.

People, it seems to me, see him as less of a physical being. Because no one really claims to see Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny, they are easy to dismiss. But God isn't supposed to have a physical body, so there is justification for no one having seen him.

I don't know.

As far as I can see, there's more evidence for Santa. There were always presents under our tree, and mom knew *nothing*.

Plus there are all those specials about him, and movies starring reputable actors like Vince Vaughan and Will Ferrel. I don't know what more a person could need to convince them.

edit -- monte, god is a "historical figure" now? I'd love to read *that* textbook!
