mayo clinic diet, Atkins diet
walking daily, exercising daily

it all depends on how mush you put in to it (will power)(eat healthy, exercise daily), no one can predict how long it will take.

To keep things safe, three pounds a week at the absolute maximum, ten pounds a month to be realistic. So, that will take you between five and six months. Aerobic/cardio exercise at your ability level - which will improve as time goes on - take it carefully at the beginning. Walking, while not especially aerobic, will also burn calories safely, so do some of it as well. In addition to exercise, you need a sensible diet.

Consumer Reports recently rated the Volumetrics Eating Plan as the best approach to weight-loss dieting. Simply put, for each food, calculate the caloric density by dividing the number of calories in a serving by the weight of the serving. Then you focus your attention on eating more low-density foods than high-density ones. They fill you up sooner, so your calorie intake drops, and you lose weight. You can continue the plan indefinitely (after you get to your desired weight, just add a few high density foods to maintain it), so this diet has a good chance to keep you at your desired weight once you get there. There is a book available, "The Volumetrics Eating Plan", published this year.

For the weight loss to be healthy and for you to keep it off, you should plan on losing it gradually - 2-3 pounds a week. If you start walking more, have a good breakfast, sensible lunch, and a light dinner, and getting some additional exercise besides the walking, it should come off in 4-5 months. If you're not walking much right now, start. Walk a mile in the morning, and in the evening, then increase that. And no snacks - especially candy. Fresh fruit can be had in moderation as a snack, or with meals.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

Start by eating a healthy diet of fruits and vegatables, cut out the junk food and the fast food. Eat right, plenty of fiber, exercise like walking, not jogging. Maybe take a light arrobics class. Don't get in a big hurry to loose weight fast. That can be just as harmful to you as being overweight. Good luck to you and don't get disscouraged.

good thing to do is walk and ride a bike. walk for an hour.
also, When you wake up, if you have steps, walk up and down steps to get your metabolism going. do it for about 5 minutes(if youcan). cut back on food and soda. dont think cause you walked 1 hour means you can drink more. drink water, no OJ or gatorade. Gatorade has as much calories as a soda, but people dont know it...
after a month of walking, try some push-ups, sit-ups, and maybe some sprints, when you go done with your walk.

then, after 2 to 3 months, try running 200 yards, then 10 pushups, run 200 yards, to 10 situps, then run some more. add the push up and sit ups in, even if tired, you have to work it in. great endurance.

Don't start by taking foods away, but by replacing foods. Let yourself eat, but pick healthier snacks. Nuts, cheese, fruits, and meats are good for losing weight, and be sure to include as much dairy as you like, such as a yogurt cup now and again.

Set your goal lower. Instead of saying "60 pounds someday" start with "1 pound this week" and stick to it. Baby steps.

When I was 15 I cut out sweets and jogged 1.25 miles every evening and lifted weights. Increase activity. At 245 maybe start with walking 2 miles daily and building to 3. STAY WITH IT.

Men usually take a lot from cutting soda and junk food from their diets. All you have to do is eat healthy and exercise. You'll be on your way to 60 in a few months.

nobody can tell you this because everyones body/metabolism is different. One person might be able to do it in 4 months, while it might take another person 8 months even though they are following the same diet and exercise routine. Anyone who gives you a timeframe on here is just pulling it out of the air.
