The tithing was given in the book of Leviticus and it was true that Abraham gave 10% to Melchizedek but not because god command it but his will.

What is your opinion should we keep the old covenant and give tithing or not?

Even Jesus in Matthew 23:23 talked about tithing in past tense.

"“Woe to YOU, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! because YOU give the tenth of the mint and the dill and the cumin, but YOU have disregarded the weightier matters of the Law, namely, justice and mercy and faithfulness. These things it was binding to do, yet not to disregard the other things

"it was binding to do"

Mat 23:23 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for

ye pay tithe

of mint and anise and cummin, and have omitted the weightier [matters] of the law, judgment, mercy, and faith: these

ought ye to have done, and not to leave the other undone. <<< YOU SEE WHAT YAHSHUA COMMANDED?? YOU OUGHT TO PAY TITHE AND NOT LEAVE TITHING UNDONE

Heb 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death,

for the redemption of the transgressions [that were] under the first testament, << SO NOW YOU THINK YOU CAN BREAK THEM ....... MORE???

they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

1Ti 1:8 But we know that the law [is] good, if a man use it lawfully;
1Ti 1:9 Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and >>>for sinners<<<, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,
1Ti 1:10 For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, >>>>and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; <<<< THE LAW DETERMINES WHAT SOUND DOCTRINE IS
1Ti 1:11 According to the glorious gospel

YOU OBVIOUSLY TEACH A FALSE GOSPEL and are therefor accursed...
Gal 1:8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.

Thithing today consists of everything and not a tenth. True believers ARE THE OFFERING. Yahshua is the example of this fact.

By the way tithing actually, when added up all year, the daily, the weekly, the monthly, the annual, this was basically heavier than our present Federal tasation system in the US. Rating higher than 50% according to some.
Not to mention the year of Jubilee if someone owed you.

Paying a tithe was never a part of the Old Testament Law or covenant as some teach. It was taught as a method to support the needs of the priests who maintained the temple and served in worship duties. In the sacrificial duties required, it was hard work and time consuming.
Jesus just once spoke concerning the tithe in Matthew 23:23
He spoke the the religious people who were so carefully following the tithing principle that they tithes their spices, and told them that that was good.... but that they should not neglect giving the non material things such as justice, mercy and faith... God expects us to tithe, but to also give in other ways in our life. We are to be like Jesus and that means we are to be givers, not takers.

Yes, I do think we should keep the 10% tithing. I do tithe 10%, and sometimes more. When I give more I consider that a 'gift'. I know some people think tithing 10% is ridiculous, but the church can't operate on love alone (try paying the electric company with love-it doesn't work!). My husband is a pastor of a small church--until we got into the ministry I didn't realize how much it cost to run a church, most people don't realize it. We definitely aren't in it to get rich.

If a person is so love struck over money that they can't even tithe what does that say about there heart. In the bible we are shown many examples of people who chased money and the results were not good. And there are many examples about people being blessed by God for considering the cause of the poor. Now as God does not change and he gives you money in the first place. You might want to really read the bible and gain wisdom. Because he states if you do not use money correctly he has no problem with making you poor.
As God gave his only begotten son for the establishment of the Gospel you might think he also would finance it. It called tithes.

Wow, some dont know! In the Old Testament, tithes were as much as 30%. Malachi 3: 6-12 is good too. Malachi says that God will cause you to prosper if you tithe. FFW to New Testament- God loves a hilarious giver!

First tithing was to support the Levites who did not have any land and were assigned to teach the Jewish people the law.

But Jesus said when He sent His disciples to witness for Him he told them "A Workman deserves his wages." So we are called to support the church.

Christianity is a relationship between a person and God. Along the way God changes peoples hearts not only to give to the church but to feed the poor, help widows and orphans in their distress and to give to those in need what they needed out of love not because of a law.

I would not say that someone should not tithe, by tithing it may be their way of showing God that they love Him. And that's how I believe we should give out of love. Paul said in Corinthians that we could give all that we own, but if we do not have love, then it is the same effect as giving nothing.

I realize I'm paraphrazing what's in the Bible, but no the covenent you refer to was not all for God, the people brought God other offerings to show that they loved him and for forgiveness of sins. Tithing was to support the Levites, so if I wanted to obey the whole command, I would have to give my ten percent to the Levites.

The entire old covenant was removed, and with it went tithing.

Abraham gave a tithe of the spoils of war, and not a tithe of his produce and livestock.

To believe we must tithe would make as much sense as believing we must practice circumcision and sacrifices.

It's a case of all or nothing when it comes to the old covenant. Paul stated that if you believe you have to keep one point, such as circumcision, you were obligated to keep all of the law, and fall from grace as a result.

Christ advised his apostles to take no longer something below your belts. Freely have you ever won, so freely supply. yet, the myth of the widow's mite, refers to giving to the adverse. very few church homes are adverse, some small congregations are interior the area to make the attempt that neither their families or their pastor get too skinny, however the bigger denominations have techniques of helping their suffering congregations while its needed. That tale nevertheless strikes homestead with me. the rich guy become taken aback that she had given so little, yet Jesus pronounced that it become all she had. that's genuine that the tithes given by making use of the ordinary oftentimes pass to the church. interior the ideal of situations, and that i oftentimes attempt to have faith the ideal approximately people who've won the call, till they have shown in any different case, the church then supplies the money to the adverse, to the missions distant places, and to no longer a company like Immobilieri, as you could endure in innovations from Godfather III. there'll continuously be hypocrites, in any container of corporation. The clergy is not any distinctive. If the church would not weed those human beings out on earth, i think of there's a choose who's amassing His data for while this is needed, and His skills are impeccable. And the section regarding the top is gorgeous.

Jesus said that He did not come to take the law away, He came to fulfill it. That means that you are not going to be saved by deeds but it is still good thing to do deeds, including tithing.

I would say, it is between you and God how much your give or if you give. Tithing is 10% of your first fruits. Offerings abe above the thithing.

Well, well, well,...

I just read Ephesians 2:15 and it says absolutely nothing about eliminating tithing to God.
"...having abolished in His flesh the enmity,..." is referring to sin. Sin is the enmity, or enemy, that has kept us from ever getting to the kingdom of God.

"...that is, the law of commandments contained in ORDINANCES..." is referring to the law of MOSES, not the law of God. The ten commandments given by God was not eliminated on the cross by Christ. But the law of Moses was a true burden to God's people.

Tithing is commanded by God. This is not a choice for true christians. Tithing is mentioned in other parts of the Bible as well, not just in Leviticus.

For example, Malachi 3:8-10 tells us:

"Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, 'In what way have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings.
"You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation.
"Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now in this," says the Lord of hosts, "if I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it."

Everything on this entire planet belongs to God. Surely we can give Him one measly tenth of our wages - that is all He asks of us. The offering is extra, given with (hopefully) a glad heart.
