The reason that I ask is because I have 2 friends that were Army special forces and after their time was up they have gone to the Marines because they say they want a real challenge. They have told me that the Marine Corps special forces has to go through all of the training that all of the other branches special forces training go through!

My family members consisting of my father ( Korea and Vietnam) former D.I. after Nam. My 5 brothers (2 Desert storm) 1 in the of them back in the sh@t now, 3 of them in Iraq and Afganistan now, 1 sister there, 1 who came home a month ago, and 2 cousins there. All Marines! The one who is back in the sh@t is on his 3rd vacation by choice! All Marines! My father would have beat the queer out of any of them that tried to join any other branch. I failed the pysical due to a wrecked knee from football in college. I hope that because of the laxed requirements as of late I will be able to join in the future! Its good to hear people from certain branches giving props to other branches. After all the U.S. military is a single fighting force with specialized units. Still a solid force!

I give nothing but RESPECT and mad props to anyone who has served our country. Wether it be in war time or in time of peace! All of our soldiers should be commended no matter what the situation was! American soldiers are the reason that we can do what we are doing right now!

Dave,
I believe that the most elite, well trained and scariest SF unit has too be the US Marines. They go through the most rigorous training and the longest and they don't take 'No' for an answer.

I was stationed at the U.S. Embassy in Ecuador a few years ago and had the opportunity to see how all the other forces worked and lived. Although I loved the Air Force and wouldn't have changed it for the world, it did seem the the Army SF's guys were the most elite and well connected with one another.
Sounds like your fam will push you into the Marines, but many blessings to you with whatever you decide - if you can get in with that bum knee.

There is only one branch with Special Forces, that is the US Army. Others have other types of Special Operations but SF is ARMY, period.
And I suppose the Taliban would consider that pretty damn scary, since it only took one battalion of US ARMY SF to take over their country.
Short of Delta, they are the best trained.
Elite? That's less quantifiable. All Special Operations are difficult to get in, even the most recent addition of Force Recon, before they got into the circle. The SeALs probably have the most difficult week of training but Delta has the most difficult test. The Rangers have 13 weeks of misery.
In short, it is unwise to mess with anyone in Special Operations or even the conventional forces such as the USMC or your common grunt in the Army. Wanna play around, go play with a zoomie desk jockey. You might be safe then.

Having worked a good number of the assorted special operators. I would have to say the Recon Marines bring the most lethality in a very small package. But that said the seal teams legend carries a greater fear factor.

Kinda hard to answer this one. All the forces have there specialty when you think about the elite but I hate to admit it I would say the Marine Recon unit. They are more tactical on land sea and air to where the others are mainly on there own turfs: Army on land, Navy near water, and Air Force in the air.

My uncle told me this story years ago; An Army Green Beret, a marine recondo, a Air Force special agent and a Navy seal are sitting around a camp fire. Starting with the Green Beret they take turns telling the stories of their most audacious exploits. Death, destruction, victories, the stories went on for hours but the Navy Seal said nothing all night. He just sat there stirring the embers in the fire with his penis.
My uncles were all Airborne (82nd) and that uncle was a Green Beret Master Sargeant.
One word or two may have been changed because of standards.

All the services have a specialty. My personal opinion is that the Air force para rescue jumpers are the tops. They complete all the special forces schools including the marines.

i'm not in the miliary , but go miliarty school and always hear this agurment. But over the years i have always thought the SEALs were the best. Not true.
Don't quote me on this one , but all the units have different jobs.
Army SF:guys who teach frogien armies how to kill
AF PJs:guys who take over air fields and save downed poilots
SEALs: i think they mainly sapitage and anti-terroism.
Marine FR:Recon...alot of their stuff is sworn not to be spoken about , so it's hard to say.
Now alot of people are asking "where Rangers?" , Airborne Rangers are not considered SF , yes they go in before the actual Army SF go in , but Rangers are a comparsion to a blender with out a lid , loud, destrucive and messy.Almost a marine , but dumber.
My perfect SF personaly are the SEALs , but really It's depends on what you consider "elite" , becuz face it we could argue all day whos better.

Don't listen to that stupid master sergeant he was probably a paper pusher. The Army has the most hard core people an Airborne Ranger is equivalent to a Marine Force Recon. Special Forces is above Rangers, so that right there automatically disqualifies the Marines. Special Forces have Delta Force, which is far superior to SEALS.
