My 9yr kitty normally eats with a passion. I haven't seen him eat lately (working), he hardly drinks, rests quite a bit and threw up a small amount of clear foam recently. His eyes look bright and normal, he doesn't seem to have a full bladder (my other boy had FUS), his breathing is normal. I noticed that he has a lot of crumbs (dark colored cat food) around his mouth and that the tip of one of his canines is brown. I'm unsure if it's decay or food stain (had his teeth cleaned last year). There are no bumps and this gums aren't red like they were the last time I brought him in. Could he have an infection? I do plan on taking him to the vet on Tuesday as this is a holiday weekend.

Thanks everyone for the advice! It would always be so much easier if my kids could just speak up! After losing my 14 year old to old age, I'm super-paranoid about my boy now.

Your poor kitty sounds very ill to me. Is there an emergency vet you could take her to? This is the rule of thumb that I go by: How would I react and treat the situation if my kitty were human? The answer: Go to the emergency. Look in the phone book for emergency hospitals for pets.
I have a cat myself and she is like a child to me and I treat her the same way as if she were human and ill.
I wish all the best for you and your poor kitty and that she makes it through her illness!

Good thing that you have an appointment with the vet. I don't think anyone here will be able to give you any answers without seeing a blood panel and doing a urine test.

I wish we could help, but your cat does need some tests to determine what is going on especially as he is 9 years old and you are going to start seeing changes. Good thing that you caught it and are getting it checked out.

I hope all goes well!!

My cat,Sinbad, had a few of these symptoms too.We waited 24 hours and then had an emergencey vet come to our house.Sinbad had either eatan a rodent that was poisoned or had been bitten by a black widow spider, but had definatley ingested some poison.Take your cat to the vet as soon as possible because th de-hydration is very dangerous and a sign that something is wrong,Good luck,D.

Sounds like it could be an infection or some other illness. You might want to consider an emergency vet. Tuesday is a long wait...

A change in eating behavior and vomiting are definately signs that something is wrong....the reasons why are many...I would try something extra yummy, like tuna..and see if he eats it. If he does not eat for 24 hours something is really not right.....
