I know that the people who are hunting deer have to have a licence or permit, but what if someone else wanted to go along one day to watch, not hunt, would they have to have a licence too?

In n.y. hunting is considered bothering animals in any way but if your just watching it would take a real butt head game warden to ticket you. Just don't drive the deer for them then your hunting

Most generally you can go along. As long as you are not hunting, you do not need a license. Some states, however, require you to have a license as long as you are "participating" in the hunt. It is up to the discretion of the conservation officer to determine whether or not a person is “participating.” Participation includes, but is not limited to, handling firearms or ammunition during the hunt, trying to attract game, driving, flushing, or locating game, and working dogs.

D J aced this one. So long as you are complying with safety rules and not in the field with hunting paraphernalia you are not hunting. Might want to carry a camera, though, to convince the game warden you're just taking pictures.

Best.

No license required, but if your on certain game management areas you would need a Land Access permit.

I think it's great that someone wants to come along and share the experience. They don't need a license to watch, and I believe thats valid for all 50 states. Good luck!!!

As long as they wear the orange vest and DO NOT carry a rifle, gun or bow, they'll be fine. No license needed.

well, if they're carrying a weapon, i would say yes. if not, its not really neccesary that they have one, I would still bring it, in case the Game Warden doesnt believe you.

As long as you never have in your posession a firearm, then yes, you can go with no license.
