You need to distinguish between actual colors and names for actual colors. I've never seen a lemon-yellow packaged as mere "lemon", unless we're talking housepaint here. Then all bets are off, as decorator color names can be or mean anything at all.

Lemon yellow is usually a high-chroma yellow that nearer the green part of the color wheel than the orange. One company's lemon yellow may not be exactly the same as another's, but they'll usually be close.

Not as a rule but different producers may have different shades of lemon/lemon yellow. It can be that a tube of lemon and a tube of lemon yellow are not exactly the same. But so can two tubes of lemon yellow vary.

No, the colour is lemon-yellow but called lemon for short, sometimes. You would not refer to lemon-green because that is an entirely different colour (chartreuse). Hope this helps!
