How or where do I find out if my S&W 4506 is ok to use +P rated ammo?

it should be alright to use +P ammo, but I would take it to a gunsmith for a good checkin out prior to using ammo, just to be on the safe side... your local gun shop should be able to help ya out with either checkin the pistol or locating a gunsmith for ya..

I don't know if I'd agree that the S&W 4506 is as tough as a Ruger P-90, but it will eat up all the .45 ACP +P ammo you can afford to feed it.

A 4506 is a chunk of stainless steel that can definitely handle +p .45ACP. That gun is as durable as a Ruger P-90 at the minimum.

About the only Smith and Wessons that can not handle +P ammo are the small J-frame revolvers. Everything else can handle +P with no problems at all.

Should be ok, just keep an eye on you ejected shells for signs of stress. I wouldn't be worried, its a S&W

I shot Mag-safe defender 22grn +P ammo out of a raven .25, now that I was worried about.

Write and ask S&W for an opinion.
