I am a swimmer and i have been working out for the past 10 years at the least. I am 21 now, and I really have very very little fat on my body, but my waist is still 34 inches. I dont really care about it, I think 34 is a good size.. but i was scouted by a couple different modeling agencies and they are saying that all my dimensions are fitting, but in order to get work my waist has to be much closer to that of a 31. Is there anyway to lose muscle weight in this area. Specifically obliques??

Wow! This is just an example of how the modeling industry skews our body imagery.

For one thing...I assume you are male? How tall are you? Your size may be perfect for your height and bone structure.

Do not do exercises that build the obliques, like side bends or side or twisting crunches. You may wish to enlist the aid of a personal trainer, for even if you are athletic and toned, they may have ways to whittle your waist without starving yourself. Usually more reps with less weight make the muscles leaner.

My ex-husband was actually bulimic whne he was a young man which is very rare. It got to the point where he couldn't control it and would automatically throw up whenever he ate. Don't let this be you. Scout other modeling agencies if neccesary.

Good luck!

just focus on toning your abdomen. you can look up fitness moves online. however, there is a chance that even working out your abdomen might not help you lose thsoe three inches. it just may be that you are not meant to be that size, and if you find that after working out for maybe a month or so there is no improvement, do not obsess over losing those inches or do anything that would harm your body to try to lsoe those inches.

since it obviously impossible to change the shape of the human skeletal system all you can do is to get down to single digit body fat and see that the tape says.

Just don't ever exercise your obliques. No twisting crunches.
