Unprovoked, the trespasser started crawling on my stuff and then disappeared behind the furniture. If he reappears shall I show him mercy or shall I take his invasion as a declaration of war and respond accordingly?

it is beyond war.. he as already begun covert operations. this is espionage, and punishable by death. if he surfaces, death by electrocution. and then keep up security, he may have other splinter cells out there.

Be careful of these kinds of centipedes. They lie in wait for days, like an insect sniper, waiting for the perfect moment to attack.

You better break out the thermals and get a fix on his position, that is if he hasn't moved to the other side of the room yet. He could be sending valuable intel and positioning data to his comrades who are poised in the adjoining room waiting for the orders to invade.

Remember to change your routine, but make it so he does not think you are onto him or know he is there. Set up some trip wire or tangle foot (better make it really low) to keep him from infiltrating further. Stay on the offensive, keep him off balance. Maybe, just maybe he will give up and try to take over your neighbor.

Good luck, and God speed.

I think Tedex might be on to something. Maybe the critter has recently seen "The Mouse that Roared". It wants your pity, do not fall prey to the "Hug your enemy" types. First it's food, then arms, followed by piles of cash.

Should you decide to take him prisoner and interrogate him, don't forget all those shoelaces that you must remove to prevent either a suicide or the use of them as a very long rope in an escape.

Unless you have evidence that he's specifically entered YOUR quarters and is trying to make YOUR life miserable - the humane thing to do is to set it free so it may continue it's mission.
Good luck.

Check with your special orders you have while guarding your post.

Don't forget to check to make sure he doesn't have any intel on him. Centipedes can be sneaky like that.

It depends.
If you're Republican, you'll nuke him.
If you're a Dem, you'll leave him be, he might be stressed from the change in weather.
If you're French, you'll surrender.
if you're Islam, you'll behead him.
I I was the centipede, i'd attack, then surrender and ask for foreign aid.
