I will not celebrate Veteran's Day tomorrow.
I will wake up in my home.
I will love my kids,
kiss my wife,
I will do as I please.
I will say what I please,
and since it is Sunday I will go to the church that I choose.
I am a Veteran, and I served for eight years.
I do not need a special day to be thanked, for I am grateful for the 364 other days in which I know that I made a difference in securing this nations freedoms for everyone.
I am thanked in every neo-nazi or Al Sharpton speech that makes my skin crawl.
I am thanked in every NRA bumper sticker.
I am thanked when you are pulled over DUI, although you didn't run over my children tonight, you still have rights.
I am thanked most when we act as Americans.
We support the President, The position not the person.
We fly the flag. Not 4-5 times per year. Always.
We do not thank a Veteran once a year.
We pray for them every day.

On Sundays I usually go to Sacramento. There is a Panera Bakery just off 80 @ Truxel. They have killer chocolate gooeey stuff. Then in Granite Bay a Peets Coffee for the trip back. Maybe I will get a burger at Fanny Annes in Old Sac.

If I get lucky I will get back to SF and annoy a lib with my special cowboy hat with all the pins, rank, etc.

I will put my Dads 80th ID pin dead center.

A few years ago, some of my buddies and I began getting together at a local church. We don't go in... just spend a quiet moment. Then we walk about 3 miles to the cemetery. We wander among the graves festooned with small American Flags, and quietly tell them thanks... each one. We fix the flags that have fallen. Then, after two or three hours, we give a formal 24-count salute, and walk back to the church. There used to be 5 in our group. Tomorrow there will be only 4. But we'll be visiting the one that's gone.

I will start by praying for all our military, past and present. If I see one on the street, I will say " Thank you for what you have done". And when my son gets back from Iraq, I will praise him and Thank him. I have always honored our veterans, and made contributions all my life to their charitable organizations... To any veteran that reads this, " You are all true American Heroes, Thank you for all you have done and still do... May God Bless you always"""

I'm looking at answers to questions related to the military and sending thank you notes to everyone I can find who is in, or has been in, the US military and family members of those in the military telling them that I appreciate what they did for us all. May God bless each and every one of them.
Without them I would not be free to have the good life I have here in the mountains of Virginia, and I want them all to know how much I appreciate them, not only today, but every day.

I'll do what I do everyday. My veterans aren't around to thank, but I'll thank them anyways, but I always do that. I'll hope to be able to get out to their graves, but I always do that too.
I honor veterans (and soldiers) whenever I can, especially the veterans I love but I'll say an extra prayer tomarrow.

I don't choose one day to thank a Veteran. I thank them everyday.. I can't imagine what they went through, but the pain is something I can slightly relate to. I lost my cousin this year in Iraq, and you can believe I think about him everyday. I do agree with you, i just do what your doing one day everyday. Thanks to all of our Veterans! Soldiers are, in my opinion, true heroes.
